Mesotherapy For Weight Loss

What is this new therapy called mesotherapy for losing fat that was protrayed in People Magazine (Roberta Flack lost 32 lbs), and US News and World Report.

Dr. Morgan recently returned from Paris where she was trained in mesotherapy which is a "new" technique which has been done in Paris for fifty years. Mesotherapy was invented in l952 by Dr. Michel Pistor, and has finally been accepted after decades of debate. Mesotherapy is taught at the Faculty of Medicine in France. In Mesotherapy, very small amounts of drugs are painlessly administered with a tiny, tiny 30 gauge needle along the problematic areas of fatty deposits. The patients were laughing (mostly at Dr. M's French and talking freely - not in pain.) Three to six drugs (and often vitamins and minerals) are administered which essentially break down fat for excretion. The amount injected in about sixty times less than that which would be required by mouth. The US has only recently learned the word mesotherapy, let alone its myriad applications. There are only ten US physicians who have been trained in this technique. Some indications include but are not limited to:

  • loss of fat from head to toe including cellulite, love handles, saddle bags, etc.
  • migraine
  • herpes zoster
  • postpartum alopecia
  • inflammatory pathologies including back problems
  • muscular spasms and sports injuries

Depending on the indication for treatment determines how often administration is required, but permanent treatment is not necessary. Dr. Morgan is accepting patients on a limited basis only.  Patients shall be required to do some strength training, and relearn what, how, when, and why to eat. As always, being a patient is a learning experience to invest in your most precious asset - your health. And, as usual, Dr. M is impressed with the common sense outside the box thinking the Europeans do.

When a physician waits until the New England Journal of Medicine says a new treatment is beneficial, we are two to three decades too late. With mesotherapy, we learn the US is one half CENTURY late.

We have been told for fifty years we cannot spot reduce. Now Paris aestheticians show us we were wrong. You can obtain good results with mesotherapy as long as you do an integrated program. Even patients who only do mesotherapy obtain good results! Of course, Dr. M. is going to tell you that in order to lose fat you must partake enough complete protein. Divide your weight by two (for example, if you weigh l60, you need 80 grams of protein per day). And as Dr. M. always tells you, we are losing one third to one half pound of muscle per year, so strength training is essential. The whole purpose of mesotherapy is to get lean again.

So far patient results have been excellent. Dr. M. performed mesotherapy on herself, ONCE, pants are loose. The number and frequency of treatments vary with how much and what kind of fat we are manipulating. There is hard fat, soft fat, cellulite. Male abdominal fat is different from facial fat. All requiring different treatments.
Treatments are usually once a week, and the number of treatments vary with the severity of the issue.

We are fortunate enough to have a plastic surgeon on staff. While training for mesotherapy in Paris, Dr. M. worked with aestheticians - medical doctors who only do non-surgical cosmetic procedures. As a result, we have also added Botox, laser therapies, chemical peels, and collagen reimplantation to the practice.

Of course, Dr. M. is still available to do internal plastic surgery, prevention and reversal of chronic degenerative disease, and treatments for ADD and Autism. Her post MD residency training now spans a decade. Thousands of hours of independent study and formal study globally. Dr. M. has a learning addiction which is a wonderful quality, and a passionately curious mind. There is constant learning, relearning, unlearning, changing, learning in a different way. We live in a world where you are highly judged by the way you look. So Dr. M. has had to bend, be flexible, not be such a med head and think - it's OK to look good on the outside as well as feel good on the inside.
